The findings are now complete for Southwest Public Libraries' Future Study and available online. Thank you to all who participated, either in a focus group, online, by phone, or in the library,
Your opinions will be used to develop a new strategic plan to guide library services for the next three years. The survey results show how SPL patrons view the future and how the Library can best address the changes it will face.

Children's Computers Are Here!
We are pleased to announce we’ve added nine new children’s computers to our libraries! These Early Literacy Stations are designed for children ages 2-10. They have a kid-friendly, easy to use interface, an interactive touch screen, and more than 50 educational games, covering math, reading, science, geography, and more.
The individual workstations provide children a safe, standalone computer not connected to the Internet. The material is age-appropriate, engaging, and academically relevant.
Software titles include:
• Dora’s World Adventure
• Giggles Toddler My Musical World
• Kid Works Deluxe
• Milllie’s Math House
• Math Doodles
• Photo Kit Jr.
• Sesame Street
• Stationary Studio
• World of Goo
"Early literacy is a high priority here at our library," said SPL Director Mark Shaw. "We know that raising a reader starts early and children who are challenged from young age are better prepared for school and learning. We'll continue to invest in these activities whenever possible."
This project is made possible by funding from the November, 2010 levy.
We encourage you to bring your children in and try the computers out – let us know what you think!
